Hamilton Community Programs
RE-create Studio and WrapAround Hamilton
The Shalem Mental Health Network services people and organizations across the country, but Hamilton is our home. As a network, we accepted the invitation to contribute to increased wellbeing in our community through two programs:
RE-create Studio
Shalem’s RE-create Studio welcomes youth artists (16-24) who seek to grow their creativity, discover connection, and build community. We provide safe places and resources for youth to explore and increase their physical, relational, mental, and spiritual wellbeing. Through the medium of art, we journey with youth as they pursue creative and meaningful lives.
Youth regard our programs and spaces as blank canvases for to fill, through mentorship, studio space, and art supplies. We invite youth artists to teach and lead their peers within our studio spaces.
Currently, RE-create offers three programs:
1
RE-create Studio: Drop-In
Our drop-in studio times are the beating heart of RE-create, as it is a space for self-expression, exploration, and creation.
Youth are encourage to experiment, observe and learn from there peers. Our space is curated by a team of caring and talented volunteers, who are also artist themselves.
I haven’t left my house in months. It just feels good to be around people and to get a chance to talk to people. You don’t know what a big deal this is for me!
2
RE-create Studio: DIY-Together Mentorship
Our mentorship program connects artist mentors with youth who want to achieve their creative goals. We support and encourage youth to make decisions about their art-making, health, employment, education and community.
If you are interested in learning more about the Mentorship Program, contact our Studio Facilitators, Emma Moeller or Marie Sinclair.
RE-create has become a second home, a place I look forward to going and a place in which I’ve grown in such a short period of time.

WrapAround Hamilton
In the Hamilton region, Shalem partners with The Catholic Children’s Aid Society of Hamilton to provide WrapAround to annually support 12-15 families.
WrapAround is a person-centered, strengths-based approach utilized in social services, mental health settings and communities. It aims to provide comprehensive and individualized support to individuals and families facing complex challenges.
Through collaboration with a team of professionals, natural supports, and community resources, WrapAround addresses multiple needs holistically, empowering participants to achieve their goals and improve their overall well-being. The approach emphasizes building on strengths, fostering a sense of belonging, and promoting long-term stability and success.
