Shalem grieved the loss of a beloved and respected past board member, Wilma Scherloski, in March 2024. Wilma was a game-changer in the field of education, Wilma served the city of Hamilton by championing the cause of youth on the margins, founding Wilma’s Place. Wilma was a committed board member at Shalem Network for 7 years, supporting our vision to bring hope into the lives of those struggling with mental and relational pain. Her contributions were always insightful and on point and included a call to action.
She served alongside Héctor Acero Ferrer, who was asked to eulogize her at Regis College, University of Toronto, in May. Héctor captured her balance of deep care, authenticity, vision for action, and persistent hope in his words. Thank you, Héctor, for sharing your words with us. You can read them here.
