Update from WrapAround Hamilton

PRINT

Issue: Summer 2020

WrapAround Hamilton has been in existence since 2009, operating under the auspices of the Shalem Mental Health Network. Since 2009 WrapAround Hamilton has done sterling work with many individuals and families dealing with complex needs that service delivery systems find challenging to meet. We continue to be dazzled by the courage and resilience displayed by so many WrapAround participants we have been privileged to come alongside since 2009. We are proud of the work, and proud that the work is continuing.

There are many accomplishments that need to be celebrated—which we will do, when it is safe to gather in large face-to-face gatherings again.

Since 2009, Shalem has provided funding for the equivalent of one full-time position in support of WrapAround Hamilton. That position has been filled in extraordinarily capable ways by Elske De Visch Eybergen, Coordinator of WrapAround Hamilton, and more recently by Elske and Mary Charles together. Shalem very much regrets that, due to the current funding environment, Shalem can no longer to continue to fund this position, effective July 1, 2020.

Nevertheless, Shalem remains very committed to WrapAround and WrapAround Hamilton, and the volunteer WrapAround Hamilton volunteer Leadership Team remains very committed to continuing the strong high fidelity WrapAround work that it has become known for. Both Shalem and the Leadership Team are pleased to announce that WrapAround Hamilton will continue to operate as a volunteer initiative, under the governance of the Shalem Mental Health Network. Shalem will also continue to be applying for grants and funding for WrapAround, and seeking new partnerships.

We are delighted and humbled that Elske will remain involved in WrapAround Hamilton. She will continue as a volunteer Facilitator, Coach and Trainer. Mark Vander Vennen, Shalem’s Executive Director and Co-Director of Wrap Canada’s WrapAround Training Institute, will provide oversight to the program. Referrals will continue to be taken. Financial support by a Shalem donor for the WrapAround Hamilton office at the Perkins Centre, 1429 Main Street East, Hamilton, will continue.

Please don’t hesitate to ask us any questions about these changes. And don’t hesitate to be in touch with WrapAround Hamilton:
