Join WrapAround for Mysterious Fun!

PRINT

Issue: Fall 2016

This fall, WrapAround Hamilton is hosting its signature fundraising event—and you are invited!

On Saturday, October 22nd, there will be an interactive dinner theatre called “Life is a Mystery.” It features a 3-course catered meal served family-style, while a “whodunnit” unfolds with the help from actors from MTE Inc.

Guests are invited to dress in character as a beatnik or in 1960’s coffee house attire. Silent auction items will be available to bid on, and there will be poetry reading by Bobby Hulk.

This key fundraising event will raise monies needed to support the WrapAround families as they work with their volunteers to meet their hopes and dreams for a better future.

WrapAround Hamilton is a volunteer-driven initiative which matches trained volunteers with a family whose life has become overwhelming. We meet with each family to see what their hopes and goals are, and then we develop a team of family members, friends, and service providers who meet with them regularly and help them achieve their goals. We listen to understand their strengths, ask about their needs, develop strategies and work toward a successful outcome for them and their family.

WrapAround teams journey with families for a few months to a few years, providing continuity of support and ensuring no one falls through the cracks between services.

Often the needs are very practical—perhaps getting a brownie uniform for a family member, or advocating to landlords and providing assistance with rent arrears. For many of the families, there are financial barriers to having their needs met.

Yet, WrapAround does so much more than help with financial needs. We create community, one family at a time in Hamilton, and wherever the WrapAround initiative exists!

Many WrapAround participants and volunteers will be assisting with this dinner theatre event, and would love to talk with guests about how they are doing and how their involvement with WrapAround is making a difference in their lives.

Please join us at Stoney Creek United Church at 6 pm on October 22nd, and enjoy an evening of crime-solving, good food and fun, while supporting the important work of WrapAround Hamilton.

For tickets and information, call Elske or Mary at WrapAround Hamilton: 905-320-8336, or the office of Shalem Mental Health Network at 905-528-0353, or get your tickets online at Eventbrite.

Elske de Visch Eybergen is our Director of WrapAround Services.
