As I review the articles for this newsletter, I’m struck again at how the work being done at Shalem is changing lives, restoring relationships and bringing hope. In every division of Shalem’s network, staff are helping clients and participants connect to resources, build on their strengths, and create a better future. They are also equipping other leaders and professionals to help clients do the same.
There are so many exciting things happening at Shalem Mental Health Network, not just locally, but across Canada and internationally.
Did you know that Andrew, Shalem’s WrapAround Development Director, has been spending weeks at a time in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec, helping agencies implement the WrapAround model with vulnerable populations, such as youth gangs?
Did you know that Shalem’s counselling clinics reduce or waive fees for clients who would otherwise be unable to pay for counselling? Between January and September 2015, that enabled approximately 24% of the counselling work, or 375 sessions, made possible thanks to your donations to the Counselling Assistance Fund.
Did you know that Betty, Shalem’s Director of the Attachment Therapy Program not only provides family therapy in the Hamilton clinic, she also provides consultation and supervision to other therapists and is working toward becoming a trainer in her area of specialty?
Did you know that several of Shalem’s other therapists are similarly providing training, mentoring and supervision to therapists newer to the field?
And did you know about the amazing volunteers that give so generously of themselves, not only during their direct volunteer time, but also through initiating creative fundraising opportunities?
Please click through the articles of this e-newsletter to read more about Andrew, Betty, and one of our remarkable RE-create Volunteers, Kristyn, and the ways they are touching lives through their contributions to Shalem Mental Health Network!
